VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE
What Happened
Your vehicle has a system that controls its speed. In some 2003 BMW passenger and wagon models, when the engine is running and the car is stationary, it might start idling faster than usual.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, when you shift gears, you might feel like you're being pushed backward, even though you're not moving. This could be unsettling and catch you off guard.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will update your vehicle's computer system to fix the problem – it's free. You should schedule an appointment as soon as possible, and if you don't get the repair done within a reasonable time, call BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
