Component
AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
Your vehicle has a part called the driver-side air bag inflator, which helps protect you in a crash by deploying the air bag. In some 2000-2002 Audi models, this inflator might not work properly because it's made with the wrong kind of propellant.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and the air bag is supposed to deploy, it might not work right. This means you could be at a higher risk of serious injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will replace the faulty air bag inflator with a new one that's designed to work properly, and it's free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get your recall notice, which was mailed November 2, 2021.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2000-2001 Audi TT Coupe, TT Roadster, 2000-2002 A4, and S4 vehicles equipped with Non-Azide Driver Air Bag Inflators (NADI) that do not contain phase stabilized ammonium nitrate (PSAN) propellant. Due to a manufacturing issue, the NADI inflators may absorb moisture, possibly causing the air bag to deploy improperly in the event of a crash.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the air bag may not properly protect the occupant, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.
Original — Remedy
