What Happened
The passenger occupant detection system in your RS E-TRON GT or E-TRON GT is a sensor that decides whether to deploy the front passenger air bag. In some 2022-2023 models, this system might get a faulty connection, which could disable the air bag when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the passenger air bag is disabled, you or your passenger could be seriously hurt in a crash. The air bag helps absorb the impact of a collision, and without it, you're more likely to suffer severe injuries.

Audi will replace the seat cushion to fix the faulty connection, and this repair is completely free. You'll get a letter with the details, and you should schedule the repair as soon as possible to ensure your safety on the road.

Original — What Happened
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2022-2023 RS E-TRON GT and E-TRON GT vehicles. The passenger occupant detection system (PODS) may experience a fault in the wiring and deactivate the front passenger air bag when the seat is occupied.

A deactivated passenger air bag increases the risk of injury during a crash.

Dealers will replace the seat cushion, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 15, 2025. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 74HC.
