Component
AIR BAGS:SENSOR:OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION
Manufacturer
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
What Happened
The occupant classification sensor in your front passenger seat is a special mat that helps the airbag system know if there's a passenger sitting there. In some 2012-2018 Audi models, this mat can wear out or get damaged, causing the airbag system to malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag system fails, the front passenger airbag might not deploy in a crash, putting you or your passenger at risk of serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Audi dealer will install a repair kit to fix the airbag system, which is completely free. You'll get a notice with instructions on when and where to schedule the repair.
