Component
POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT
Manufacturer
Subaru of America, Inc.
What Happened
The driveshaft in your Crosstrek, Impreza, Forester, or WRX is like a long, flexible rod that connects your transmission to your wheels. It helps transfer power from the engine to the ground.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driveshaft cracks and breaks while you're driving, you could lose power and have trouble controlling your vehicle. This could also cause your car to roll away when you're parked, even with the transmission in park, which increases the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Subaru dealer will check and replace the front driveshafts as needed – for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, which has already been mailed to you.
