What Happened
The high voltage battery combined charging unit (CCU) in your vehicle is a crucial part that helps manage the flow of electricity from the battery to the electric motor. In some 2022-2023 models, the CCU might not have been built correctly, which means some internal components are connected or assembled incorrectly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the CCU fails, it could interrupt the flow of electrical power while you're driving, causing your engine to stall. This increases the risk of a collision because you'll lose power assistance for steering and braking.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty CCU with a new one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive your recall notice, usually within the next few weeks.
