What Happened
Your vehicle's brake light switch might not be adjusted correctly, which can make your brake lights turn on without you pressing the brake pedal.
Risk if Unfixed
This can lead to two serious issues: other drivers might not know when you're actually braking, and your vehicle could roll away unexpectedly when you shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
A Subaru dealer will check and adjust the brake light switch, if needed, free of charge. They'll do this as soon as possible after you receive a notification letter, which should arrive on June 23, 2023.
