What Happened
The high voltage battery electronic control unit (ECU) in your vehicle controls the flow of electrical power to the motor. In certain 2022-2023 models, the software in this unit could fail, causing a shutdown.
Risk if Unfixed
If the software fails, your car's drive power could suddenly cut out, making it hard to control the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software in your high voltage battery ECU, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, and you can contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 for more information.
