Nissan is recalling certain 2013-2018 Altima models due to a potential issue with the hood latch. A faulty secondary latch could cause the hood to open unexpectedly while driving if the primary latch is released.
RISK_ASSESSMENT
If the secondary latch corrodes, it may bind and stay in the unlatched position, causing the hood to open unexpectedly while driving, which could lead to a vehicle crash.
RESOLUTION_PROTOCOL
Nissan will notify you and replace the primary latch with a stronger release spring, add a warning label near the secondary latch, and provide instructions on how to maintain the latch mechanism, all free of charge.
