Component
STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
What Happened
The torque sensor in your vehicle helps your steering system know how much force you're applying to the wheel. But in some 2017-2018 Civics and CR-Vs, the magnet that helps the sensor work properly can come loose.
Risk if Unfixed
If the magnet gets dislodged, it could make your steering system apply the wrong amount of assist when you make a sharp turn. This could make your vehicle harder to maneuver, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your Honda dealer will replace the steering gearbox assembly with a new one at no cost to you. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.
