What Happened
The Forward Collision Mitigation system in your vehicle uses software to detect pedestrians and automatically apply the brakes if needed. In some 2017-2019 models, this software can malfunction and keep the brakes on for too long after the danger has passed.
Risk if Unfixed
If the brakes stay on too long, you might react by slamming on the brakes yourself, which could cause your vehicle to stop suddenly. This could lead to a rear-end collision with the car in front of you.
