What Happened
The driver's side air bag in your Ranger is designed to deploy in a crash to protect you. However, in certain 2004-2006 models, the air bag's internal pressure could cause it to burst with sharp metal fragments.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag ruptures, sharp metal pieces could hit you or your passengers during a crash, potentially causing serious injuries or even death.
Free Fix
Your Ford dealer will replace the faulty air bag inflator with a safer one – at no cost to you. Until then, please don't drive your vehicle. Ford will notify you when it's time to schedule the repair.
