What Happened
The part that controls your windshield wipers is called the wiper motor. In some 2010-2014 Subaru Legacies and Outbacks, the motor's cover can get clogged with debris like snow or ice, which can cause it to overheat.
Risk if Unfixed
If the wiper motor overheats, your wipers could stop working while driving, reducing your visibility and increasing the risk of a crash. In the worst case, the melted cover could also cause a fire.
Free Fix
Your Subaru dealer will replace the faulty wiper motor cover with a new one, free of charge. This should be done as soon as you receive the recall notice, to ensure your safety on the road.
