What Happened
The camshaft lobe in your engine is what drives the brake vacuum pump, helping you stop safely. In some 2015-2016 Jettas, Beetles, Passats, and Golfs, this lobe can break off.
Risk if Unfixed
If the camshaft lobe breaks, you'll lose brake assist, which means it'll take longer to stop the vehicle. This could make it harder to avoid a collision.
Free Fix
Your Volkswagen dealer will update the computer system (ECM) with new software to prevent this issue, and the repair is free. You should schedule the update as soon as possible.
