What Happened
The front seat belt retractor in your FJ Cruiser is held in place by a panel on the rear door. Over time, repeated forceful closures of the door can weaken this panel and cause cracks.
Risk if Unfixed
If the panel cracks, the seat belt retractor could come loose in a crash, making it harder to protect you and increasing the risk of serious injury.
Free Fix
Your Toyota dealer will inspect and replace the rear door panel if necessary, free of charge. You'll receive a notification in late May 2013, and you should contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 for more information.
