Your vehicle's brake stop lamp switch is mounted on a small bracket on the brake pedal. This bracket is at risk of being damaged by your foot while applying the parking brake.
RISK_ASSESSMENT
If the bracket is damaged, your brakes might drag, making a noise, vibrating, or causing the brake warning light to come on. This could reduce your braking effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.
RESOLUTION_PROTOCOL
Toyota will replace the bracket assembly for free. They'll mail you a notification in mid-January to let you know, and a second letter when parts are available for the repair. Contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 if you have any questions.
