POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:PARK/NEUTRAL START INTERLOCK SWITCH
What Happened
The park/neutral start interlock switch in your Dodge Challenger is a safety feature that ensures the transmission can't move out of park unless the engine is turned off with the brake pedal pressed. In some 2008-2009 models with automatic transmissions and the 'Keyless Go' option, this switch can malfunction.
Risk if Unfixed
If the engine shuts off while you're not in park, your vehicle could roll away, posing a risk of a crash or injury.
Free Fix
Your Chrysler dealer will reprogram the wireless ignition node module to make sure the engine only turns off when the transmission is in park, at no cost to you. They'll perform this update as soon as you bring your vehicle in.
