FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY
What Happened
Your vehicle's fuel system has a faulty fuel pressure regulator that can leak fuel at a higher rate than usual, potentially causing a backfire.
Risk if Unfixed
If the backfire happens, it can rupture the intake manifold, causing a fuel line to break, which can lead to a fuel leak and possibly a fire.
Free Fix
You should take your vehicle to the dealership, where a new fuel pressure regulator with improved parts will be installed free of charge. The recall is being done in phases, starting on June 30, 2004, and September 30, 2004, and you can contact Buick, Oldsmobile, or Pontiac at the numbers listed for more information.
