Component
STRUCTURE:BODY:TAILGATE
Manufacturer
Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
What Happened
The tailgate actuator in your RAM truck helps control the locking mechanism. In some 2015-2017 models, this actuator's tab can break, causing the tailgate to unlatch unexpectedly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the tailgate opens while you're driving, cargo could spill out and create a road hazard. This could lead to a crash if another driver isn't able to avoid it.
Free Fix
Your dealer will fix the issue for free. They'll repair the tailgate actuator to ensure the latch stays secure. The repair is complimentary, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
