Component

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

Manufacturer
Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
What Happened
In your 2017-2019 718 Boxster or Cayman, there's a part called the crossmember that connects the luggage compartment to the car's frame. It's designed to help keep the fuel tank safe in the event of a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash and the crossmember detaches, it could cause a fuel leak. If there's an ignition source nearby, like a spark or a hot exhaust system, it could catch fire.
Free Fix
Your authorized Porsche dealer will add extra rivets to secure the crossmember, so it stays in place in case of a crash. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you get the recall notice.

AIR BAGS

Manufacturer
Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
What Happened
The side air bag sensors in your vehicle are like the 'eyes' that detect a crash and deploy the air bags to keep you safe. In some 2018 models, these sensors might have been installed incorrectly.
Risk if Unfixed
If you're in a crash, the air bags may not deploy as they should, which could result in more severe injuries than if they had worked properly.
Free Fix
Your Porsche dealer will double-check the sensors and tighten them to ensure they're secure, free of charge. This repair is a safety precaution to keep you protected – it's a no-cost fix, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
