Component
SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE
Manufacturer
TOYOTA MOTOR NORTH AMERICA, INC.
What Happened
The anti-lock braking system (ABS) control unit in your car helps you stop smoothly on slippery or rough roads. In some 2010 Prius and Lexus HS250h models, this unit can send mixed signals to the brakes, making it harder to stop.
Risk if Unfixed
If the ABS control unit isn't working correctly, you might need to press the brake pedal harder than usual to stop, which could increase the distance it takes to stop. This might lead to a higher risk of a crash, especially on slippery or uneven roads.
Free Fix
Your authorized Toyota or Lexus dealer will reprogram the ABS control unit to ensure it works as expected. This repair is free, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
