What Happened
The driver's side airbag in your vehicle is designed to deploy in a crash to cushion your impact. However, in some older models, the airbag's propellant can break down over time, especially in hot and humid conditions.
Risk if Unfixed
If the airbag inflator fails, it could rupture and send sharp metal fragments into the driver's space, causing severe injury or even death.
Free Fix
Your dealer will replace the faulty airbag inflator with a new one, designed to work reliably in a wide range of conditions. This repair is completely free, and you should schedule it as soon as you receive the recall notice.

Original — What Happened
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2007-2011 Ranger, 2006-2012 Fusion, Lincoln Zephyr, Lincoln MKZ, 2006-2011 Mercury Milan, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, and Lincoln MKX vehicles. The driver's side air bag inflator may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling.

Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver-side airbag inflator or module with an alternate one, free of charge. What Happened
The airbag in your vehicle is designed to protect you in case of a crash. In some older models, the airbag inflator could burst and send sharp metal fragments flying into the cabin.
Risk if Unfixed

What Happened
There's an issue with some passenger-side airbag inflators used in certain Ford models. These parts are the ones that deploy the airbag in a crash, but they might explode and send sharp metal fragments flying.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens in a crash, the exploding airbag could seriously hurt or even kill you or your passenger. The metal fragments could cause severe injuries.
