What Happened
The sun gear in your vehicle's transmission is a crucial part that helps connect your wheels to the engine. In some 2022-2023 models, this gear might be incorrectly made, causing a problem with your vehicle's drive system.
Risk if Unfixed
If the driver-side half-shaft separates from the transmission, you could lose power while driving or experience a rollaway when putting the vehicle in park. This could make it hard to control the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will replace the sun gear for free. You should schedule the repair as soon as you receive the recall notice, which was mailed on July 27, 2023. The repair will be available starting August 31, 2023.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac XT6, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Blazer, Traverse, and 2022-2023 Cadillac XT5 vehicles. The transmission may have been built with an incorrect sun gear, which can result in the driver-side half-shaft disengaging from the transmission.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
A half-shaft disengaging from the transmission can result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
Original — Remedy
Dealers will replace the sun gears, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 27, 2023. The remedy is expected to become available August 31, 2023.
