Under Review #00V021000 Plain English
Component

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Manufacturer
GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
What Happened
Your limousine's cruise control system has a small plastic piece that could break and cause a problem with the throttle.
Risk if Unfixed
If this happens, it could cause your engine to rev up a bit when you're driving with the brake pedal pressed, which could increase the risk of an accident.
Free Fix
You should take your limousine to the dealership, where a new part will be installed for free, and they may also replace the cruise control cable if needed.
Show original NHTSA language
Original — What Happened
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIMOUSINES. DURING NORMAL ENGINE ROLL, THE PLASTIC END FITTING OF THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE COULD CONTACT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND FRACTURE. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 124, "ACCELERATOR CONTROL SYSTEMS."
Original — Risk if Unfixed
THE FRACTURE COULD PREVENT FULL CLOSING OF THE THROTTLE AND CAUSE A SMALL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPM IN DRIVE WITH THE BRAKE APPLIED.
Original — Remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW CRUISE CONTROL BRACKET AND, IF NECESSARY, WILL REPLACE THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE.
