AIR BAGS:SRS MALFUNCTION WARNING LAMP/LIGHT

Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The sensing diagnostic module in your vehicle helps the airbags deploy properly. It talks to the communications gateway module, which has a bug that can cause the 'air bag malfunction' light to flicker or not turn on when it should.
Risk if Unfixed
If the light doesn't come on when there's a problem with the airbags, you might not know there's a danger inside your vehicle. This could put you at risk of injury in a crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized dealer will update the software in the communications gateway module for free. This will ensure the air bag malfunction light works correctly. You'll get a notification with instructions on when to schedule the update.

Original — What Happened
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Buick Envision, Cadillac CT4, CT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Corvette, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL vehicles. The communications gateway module incorrectly processes a loss of communication with the sensing diagnostic module (SDM), causing the air bag malfunction indicator light to inconsistently illuminate.
Original — Risk if Unfixed
The air bag malfunction indicator light may fail to warn the driver of a problem with the air bag, increasing the risk of injury.
Original — Remedy
The communications gateway module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 1, 2021. EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE

Manufacturer
General Motors, LLC
What Happened
The lighting control module is the computer that manages your vehicle's exterior lights, including the daytime running lights. In your 2020-2023 Cadillac, 2021-2023 Buick, or 2022-2023 Chevrolet or GMC vehicle, this module might not turn off the DRLs when your headlights are on.
Risk if Unfixed
If the DRLs don't turn off, they could cause glare that reduces visibility for you and other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your dealer will update the software in your vehicle's body control module, which can be done either at the dealership or through an over-the-air update, all free of charge. You should schedule the update as soon as you get the recall notice.
