What Happened
The rear wheel mounting flange is the part that holds your rear wheel in place. In some older BMW motorcycles, this flange can crack if the bolts are tightened too much.
Risk if Unfixed
If the flange cracks, your rear wheel could come loose while you're riding, making it harder to control your motorcycle and increasing the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will swap out the aluminum flange with a stronger steel one, free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, to ensure your safety on the road.
