Component
STEERING
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The steering damper is a critical part in your motorcycle that helps stabilize the steering. In some 2024-2025 M 1000 XR and M 1000 R models, the damper's valve pin might be loose inside the housing, causing your steering to become harder to manage.
Risk if Unfixed
If the steering damper fails, you could experience a sudden and unexpected surge in steering effort. This can make it harder to control your motorcycle, increasing the risk of a serious crash.
Free Fix
Your authorized BMW dealer will replace the steering damper with a new one, completely free of charge. You should schedule the repair as soon as possible after receiving the recall notice.
