What Happened
The software that controls your electric vehicle's drive motor is like the brain of the motor, telling it when to speed up and slow down. In some 2022-2025 BMW models, this software might not work properly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the software fails, your vehicle's drive motor could shut down while you're driving, leaving you without power and increasing the risk of a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will update the software controlling your drive motor, and this will be done free of charge. You'll receive a letter with instructions on how to schedule the update, which can be done either over-the-air or at a dealer – either way, it's on the house.
