ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:DRIVER MONITORING:CAMERA/SENSOR

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The hands-on detection system in your vehicle relies on a camera and sensor to monitor your hands on the steering wheel. In some 2023-2024 models, the connection to this system wasn't installed correctly.
Risk if Unfixed
If the system doesn't work, it might not detect when your hands leave the steering wheel, so the emergency assist system won't engage. This could lead to a loss of control and an increased risk of a collision.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will check the connection and reattach it if necessary, all at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair when you receive the recall notice.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC):CONTROL MODULE

Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The electronic stability control module in your vehicle is the brain of the anti-lock brake system and dynamic stability control. It helps your car stay stable and responsive on the road. In some 2023-2025 models, the welds in this module might fail.
Risk if Unfixed
If the welds break, your power brake assist and rear brake function could fail while you're driving. This means you'll have to rely on your foot brake alone, which can lead to a longer stopping distance and reduced control over your vehicle. This could increase your risk of being involved in a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty brake control module with a new one at no cost to you. You should schedule the repair as soon as you get the recall notice, which was mailed on November 13, 2024.
