Component
AIR BAGS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The air bag in your seat is a safety device that deploys to cushion you in case of a crash. In some 2016-2017 models, the part that makes the air bag inflate might not work correctly, which could leave you without protection in a crash.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag doesn't deploy, you could be at higher risk of injury from hitting the dashboard or other objects inside the vehicle during a crash.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the air bag module at no cost to you. You'll get a notification when it's time for the repair, and you should schedule it as soon as possible.
