Component
AIR BAGS
Manufacturer
BMW of North America, LLC
What Happened
The seat-mounted air bag in your vehicle is a crucial safety device that deploys in the event of a crash. The air bag inflator initiator is a small part that helps make the air bag go off. In some 2016-2017 models, this initiator might not work as it should.
Risk if Unfixed
If the air bag initiator fails, your side air bag won't deploy in a crash. This could leave you vulnerable to serious injury, especially if you're sitting in the seat closest to the impact.
Free Fix
Your BMW dealer will replace the faulty air bag module with a new one, completely free of charge. When you get the recall notice, schedule the repair to ensure your safety on the road.
